Webosaurs
Pick your dinosaur. Explore the island. Make yourself at home. A browser-based virtual world that brought games, wildlife and friendship to 1.5 million registered users.
A prehistoric world. A verysocial life.
Webosaurs gave kids an island to explore and a dinosaur to become. Players met friends, played minigames, collected items and decorated their own caves, building a life inside a shared online world.
Created around Reel FX’s dinosaur characters, the experience combined animated avatars, hand-drawn environments and wildlife videos featuring Nigel Marven. Games brought players in. Personal spaces, community events and friendships gave them reasons to return.
Find your inner dinosaur
Rexxy, Horns, Pterry or Stretch. Choosing a dinosaur was the first step towards making the island your own. Players customized their characters with outfits and armor, creating an identity that followed them into every game and conversation.
An island full of distractions
The next game was part of the journey. Players explored different locations, discovered challenges and earned coins to spend on their characters and caves. Single-player and multiplayer minigames gave them different ways to compete, collect and keep exploring.
Beyond the dinosaurs
Wildlife presenter Nigel Marven brought the real world onto the island through educational Webosodes. Between games and conversations, children could discover animals and habitats through filmed adventures, making wildlife part of the experience.
A cave of your own
Players had somewhere to return to and something to make their own. Personal caves, decorations and collectible items sat alongside the island’s shared spaces. Moderators helped guide the community, while events and updates gave friends new reasons to meet online.
