ARGOL

Put a football pitch on your table and challenge someone across the world. We designed and developed an AR football game with flick controls, miniature players and live head-to-head competition.

ARGOL project

Small pitch. Big competition.

ARGOL brings football into the room. Players place a miniature pitch on a flat surface, line up a shot and take on the goalkeeper. Free kicks and penalty shootouts turn a familiar tabletop into somewhere worth defending.

We connected mobile AR, responsive shooting controls and online multiplayer in one experience. Our work covered the gameplay, interface, 3D players and environments, plus the networking that lets opponents compete from different locations.

Find your home ground

The phone’s camera finds a suitable flat surface and anchors the pitch in the player’s surroundings. ARKit and ARCore handle spatial tracking, keeping the field in place as the viewpoint changes. We refined placement and tracking across different environments to make getting into a game straightforward.

Make the shot feel right

Swipe, aim and send the ball towards goal. Free-kick and penalty modes share simple controls, with the challenge coming from timing and precision. We tuned the relationship between the gesture, the ball’s movement and the visual response so each attempt gives players something to adjust on the next shot.

Different rooms. Same match.

Photon Networking connects players for live head-to-head matches. We worked on synchronization and smoothing to keep the action coherent across different devices and connections. Matchmaking and friend challenges bring opponents together, while leaderboards and chat give the competition somewhere to continue between games.

Build a stadium at miniature scale

Players, stadium elements and animated spectators give the small pitch its atmosphere. We built and optimized the 3D assets for mobile, balancing detail with the demands of camera tracking and live gameplay. Lighting, shadows and animation help the field feel present in the room and make the action readable on a phone.
